Behind the Scenes of Ember & Bloom

Hi! It’s me, Brittany! The face and owner of Ember & Bloom. I am so excited to share that there is a NEW home bakery in town, that is completely GLUTEN FREE & VEGAN opening in Spring of 2025!

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my story. I am a Gig Harbor native, fiancé to the most patient and incredible man, and a dog mom to our German Shepard mix Ms. Wiki. My love for baking began as a child, making countless desserts in the kitchen with my grandparents. From those early days to the pandemic-induced sourdough craze, baking has been a source of comfort and creativity.

My passion for baking deepened as I gained experience working in local specialty bakeries for gluten free diets and other dietary restrictions. These experiences honed my skills, introduced me to the intricacies of the craft, ignited confidence, and a desire to work in a retail bakery to create delicious baked goods for others.

In a surprising turn of events in May 2024, my health took an unexpected twist, forcing me to adapt to new physical limitations. Yet, my passion for baking for the joy of others remained unwavering. Ironically, my health journey led me to a deeper understanding of the importance of clean, wholesome ingredients, particularly gluten-free and dairy-free options.

But when first faced with a restrictive AIP diet to find what foods might be triggering my symptoms, I was surprised by my community’s lack of diet-restrictive breads and sweet treats. Sadly, there are many people that have been facing this issue for years. This is all new to me. Inspired by this, I decided to share my love for baking and providing my community with specialty gluten free and vegan breads and sweet treats by starting my own home-based business, Ember & Bloom.

Now, I want to share my experience and passion with the Gig Harbor community from the comfort of my own home. I’m committed to filling the void for delicious baked goods, offering a range of gluten-free and often vegan options that are both comforting and innovative.

I believe that everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions, deserves to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. By offering a variety of wholesome, delicious treats, I hope to bring joy and satisfaction to every bite.

Ember & Bloom

Ember, a tiny spark, a flicker of hope. It represents the potential within us all, a small flame that can ignite into something extraordinary. Like a cozy fire on a cold night, it brings warmth and comfort.

Bloom, a word that evokes images of vibrant life, a blossoming flower reaching for the sun. It signifies growth, development, and the beauty that comes from overcoming challenges. Just as a flower unfolds its petals, we too can bloom into our fullest selves.

Together, Ember & Bloom represent a journey of transformation, from a small beginning to a radiant end. It’s a reminder that even the smallest spark can ignite a fire, and even the smallest seed can grow into a magnificent bloom.

The name Ember & Bloom is a nod to my Grandfather. Whose memories in the kitchen together making cream puffs, baklava, Hungarian nut rolls, Hungarian kolaches (not to be confused with Czechoslovakian kolaches he’d tell you), cream puffs just to name a few will forever fill my mind & heart when I’m baking. On September 16, 2024 he made his journey to heaven. Upon arriving home, I had yet to open my birthday card sent by my grandparents prior to his passing. Written in this card, is a message that I carry with me everyday, and the name of my business was etched in stone. From here Ember & Bloom was truly born, with his blessing. 💛
