Ciao, Bella! My Sourdough Story & Why I'm Teaching This Class

Hi, I'm Brittany, owner and baker behind Ember & Bloom Bakery.

When I first tackled sourdough, it felt like a mountain of endless starter upkeep and confusing terms like "discard" and "fermentation." It was a challenge, but I put in the time and research to crack the code on gluten-free sourdough—and now I'm here to tell you: it doesn't have to be that hard!

I want to share all the knowledge and simple secrets I've gathered so you can skip the struggle and get straight to the delicious results.

Join me for this very hands-on class (we’re really getting our hands in that dough in this one) at Local Whimsy in Gig Harbor, where we will focus on creating two classic Italian delights: Gluten-free Pizza Dough & Focaccia!

My goal is for you to confidently take what you learn and bring a little piece of Italy home with you to share with your family! We'll show you exactly how to handle the dough, maintain a hearty, bubbly GF starter, and use your creations to elevate your next gathering. Bellisima!

Here is everything you will learn and take home:

  • Hands-on Skills: You'll learn all you need to know to make delicious gluten-free sourdough pizza dough and focaccia—getting your hands deep in the dough!

  • Take-Home Dough: A lovely rounded pizza dough (to freeze or bake later that day!) and a focaccia we make together. Make sure to bring your favorite toppings and seasonings if you want to go the extra mile for your foccacia. A traditional foccacia is perfectly fine too! I’ll bring the rest!

  • The Starter: A jar of Ember & Bloom's active gluten-free sourdough starter (your new bubbly friend!) including the first weekly gluten-free feeding flours.

  • Written Guidance: My complete "All Things Gluten-Free Sourdough" recipe, plus all the instructions for caring for your starter and baking/freezing your dough.

All you have to do is show up and bring some toppings (only if you’d like)! Grab your seat, maybe a friend, and let's bring some Italian deliciousness home. Ciao!
